Boot Camp is Back!

The highly anticipated, annual KyIP IP Boot Camp is in the works! We are thrilled to start spilling the details on all the fun and learning planned for this year’s IP Boot Camp. If you have attended boot camp in the past, we welcome you back! If you are new here, we want to see you too! This year is filled with new and returning beloved activities to get your infection prevention gears turning!

Due to the overwhelming positive feedback on the format of 2024 Boot Camp, we will again start with a didactic virtual day on April 30, 2025. This day will be filled with subject matter experts speaking on topics tailored to what you asked for! We built the agenda with your needs in mind based on our most recent Learning Needs Assessment. We will be learning about Supply Shortages, Process and Performance Improvement for the IP, Tuberculosis including risk assessments, Social Determinants of Health to Reduce Infection Risks, T-CHEST and Environment of Care, Antimicrobial Stewardship for the IP,  and Outbreaks. Of course we all love the free continuing nurse education credits that come with Boot Camp, so we are bringing those back as well!

Following up the virtual didactic day, we will have two opportunities to attend the hands-on simulation days. Once again, we heard how much attendees love when we travel to their location so we are loading up our supplies and hitting the road again! Day one will take place on May 6th at KCTC Versailles, Kentucky, and day two on May 8th at Owensboro Regional Hospital in Owensboro, Kentucky. Having these two geographically distinct areas allows more attendees across the state to partake in the highly attended and much regarded hands on IP simulation day.

New to this year’s in person day is a theme. The year we will focus on “A Day in the Life of an IP”. A combination of hands on simulations and table top simulations have been carefully crafted to complement the content learned in the didactic virtual day, enhancing the simulated experience of a day in the life of an IP. Additionally we have added new and more immersive tabletop simulations in an attempt to make these activities as realistic as possible focusing on things you would likely see in your day as an IP. We’ll start these tabletop simulations with Outbreak Management, followed by Compliance and Performance Improvement. We’ll break for lunch, then pick back up with Supply Shortages. We’ll end the day working through Social Determinants of Health related to infection risks. Throughout the day we will break for everyone to roam the hands-on simulation tables so you are able attend the simulations at your leisure. The hands on simulations include our beloved Hand Hygiene simulation, Low Level Disinfection, and new simulations around Spot the Errors with CAUTI and CLABSI, Environmental Surface Cleaning, and Handling Contaminated Linens.

If this sounds like a great day of learning, grab your spot now! As always, these events are free but registration is required. Get ready to learn and practice in a fail safe environment, and have the opportunity to take what you learned back to your facilities. Check out the link below to register!
