Virtual Day Topics

Join us for a discussion about surveillance and outbreak management. From recognizing the signs of a potential outbreak all the way through investigation and reporting.

Join us for a discussion on why hand hygiene is so important, proper techniques, when to perform, and the use of hand sanitizer. The presenter will also address how to care for your hands as a healthcare professional and how your skin may be affected by cleansing products.

Join us for a presentation that touches on adherence to standard precautions in healthcare, with a focus on enhanced barriers, addressing the significance of utilizing personal protective equipment, such as gloves and masks, to minimize infection transmission. And the role nurses play in implementing these measures to safeguard both patients and healthcare workers.

Join us for a presentation highlighting the critical importance of thorough environmental cleaning and disinfection in healthcare settings. Emphasizing the role of all healthcare workers, this presentation covers proper techniques, frequency, and selection of disinfectants to prevent healthcare-associated infections.

Join us for a discussion about the importance of antimicrobial stewardship in healthcare settings and principles of judicious antibiotic use, strategies to prevent antimicrobial resistance, and the nurse’s pivotal role in implementing stewardship programs to optimize patient care and preserve antibiotic effectiveness.

Join us for a presentation discussing the imperatives of compliance and accountability in healthcare and leveraging available data to ensure staff adherence to policy and procedure. The presentation outlines mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating compliance, utilizing data analytics to identify areas for improvement. Emphasizing the importance of fostering a culture of accountability to enhance patient safety and quality of care.

Join us for a presentation that emphasizes the significance of policy and procedure writing, standard work instruction development, and risk assessment and auditing in healthcare. This session guides participants on crafting clear, comprehensive documents aligned with regulatory standards. Utilizing data-driven approaches, it emphasizes the critical role of thorough auditing to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and uphold quality care standards.

Simulations and Exercises

An engaging and interactive exercise will be facilitated, allowing all attendees to actively participate. While specific details are withheld to maintain surprise, participants can anticipate a stimulating simulation and exercise designed to captivate and invigorate their learning experience.

Simulation will emphasize proper hand hygiene technique. Participants engage in simulated scenarios where they must demonstrate adherence to hand hygiene practices, including proper handwashing techniques and the use of hand sanitizers. This exercise underscores the critical role of consistent hand hygiene in preventing the spread of infections and reinforces staff accountability in maintaining compliance with established protocols.

In this exercise enhanced barrier precautions are simulated to test and reinforce staff adherence to guidelines. Participants practice deploying additional personal protective equipment (PPE) beyond standard precautions, emphasizing the importance of vigilance in preventing infection transmission. This exercise underscores the significance of staff accountability in maintaining a safe healthcare environment.

With the use of black lights to showcase missed cleaning areas, participants simulate scenarios where they must ensure thorough cleaning of surfaces and equipment, as well as proper application of disinfectants to eradicate pathogens effectively. This exercise reinforces the importance of stringent adherence to cleaning procedures and fosters staff accountability in maintaining a sanitized healthcare environment to prevent healthcare-associated infections.

Participants engage in role-play scenarios to simulate real-world challenges and decisions related to antibiotic use, including nurses actively advocating for judicious antibiotic prescribing, educating patients and colleagues about antimicrobial resistance, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to implement stewardship initiatives. Through role-play, nurses practice effective communication skills and demonstrate accountability in promoting responsible antibiotic utilization to optimize patient outcomes and combat antimicrobial resistance.

The tabletop exercise for infection prevention training emphasizes compliance and accountability. Participants engage in dynamic scenarios, focusing on adherence to protocols and responsibilities. Through interactive simulations, they enhance understanding of infection control measures, fostering a culture of vigilance and accountability in healthcare settings.
