Dr. Julia Frith, DNP, RN, CIC will examine what are infectious diseases, transmission routes, common pathogens, and immunity and susceptibility.
Join Dr. Janet Glowicz, PhD, MPH to discuss why hand hygiene is so important, proper techniques, when to perform, and the use of hand sanitizer. She will also address how to care for your hands as a healthcare professional and how your skin may be affected by cleansing products. Additionally, she will speak specifically about glove use and prevention of C. difficile.

Join Dr. Nimalie Stone, MD for a discussion of types of personal protective equipment and when to use, donning and doffing correctly, ensuring respirator fit, cough etiquette, and past and future trends.

Join Dr. Hudson Garrett, PhD, MSN, MPH for a discussion on understanding types of personal protective equipment during an emergency, proper use of isolation in an emergency, implementation of additional measures during an outbreak, and how to handle high-stress situations while maintaining infection prevention.
Join Dr. Hudson Garret, PhD, MSN, MPH for a discussion about Spaulding Classifications, device reprocessing best practices, manufacturer IFUs and human factors that make disinfection difficult.
Participants will be offered a break while the room is transitioned into the hands-on simulation portion of the event.
Participants will rotate through multiple hands-on simulations including hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and cleaning and disinfection. Each simulation will be lead by an expert in the field and participants will be able to apply their newly gained knowledge and skill through practice. Novel techniques and products will help the participant visualize the spread of germs and contaminants.
Dr. Julia Frith, DNP, RN, CIC will close out day one. A short period will be available for question and answers from the audience.
